recover this morning after he was shot by a suspect in oakland. that officer was one of two responding to a two-car crash when they heard gunshots near the intersection of 49th avenue and east 12th street. this all happened right around 6:00 last night. police say the officers found a man with a gun and that man began to fire at them hitting one officer. the other officer shot but missed the suspect. both officers continued to chase the suspect and were ultimately able to arrest him nearby. the injured officer is a 13-year veteran of the force and is in stable condition this morning. investigators are trying to figure out if the suspect is somehow related to the initial car crash. this is the second time an oakland police officer has been shot in just five days. monday night a little over a mile away on the 1700 block of seminary avenue an undercover police officer working on a sunday shooting was also shot. police made five arrests in connection with that officer-involved shooting and they say they won't stop until everyone involved is held responsible. >> when someone is so bold and

gilroy, 35 in san jose, 39 in oakland, 30 in santa rosa. we're expecting to see a bright day, lots of sunshine, going to warm us quickly, just as many of us got close to 0 degrees yesterday we're looking at a similar situation today, santa cruz at 71 degrees, our warm spot with the strong offshore flow. san francisco at 69 and same for oakland and san jose at 68. there is one word of caution, there is a high surf advisory this weekend so with the warm temperatures you may be tempted to get out to the beach. definitely avoid prolonged periods of turning your back on the beach. we're expecting swells, chris, up to 20 to 30 feet. the mavericks are taking place tomorrow so if you are going to be spectating, use extreme caution and remember the swells can come 20 to 30 seconds and this means that a lot of that pullback into the ocean you may just think it's over but once the waves come back it's very strong. >> don't turn your back, watch over the kids and the pets. thank you, anthony. >>> to a developing story involving the 49ers, the investigation continues this morning into an allege

straight through the week. >>> oakland police are busy investigating four separate shootings that left four people dead. the shootings spanned different neighborhoods of the city from west oakland to deep east oakland and all took place within a span of about six hours, starting yesterday afternoon. this is the scene from the fourth shooting which happened around 8:15 last night on hillside street, not far from bishop o'dowd high school. the man pronounced dead at the scene. as of now there are no arrests in any of the killings. it is oakland's sixth homicide of the new year, all of which happened this week. >>> a showdown over gun control laws is taking center stage right here in the bay area this morning. gun show in daly city is the focus of people on both sides of the issue. up to 10,000 people are expected to crowd into the crossroads of the west gun show at the cow palace this weekend and they can expect plenty of protesters to greet them. the show includes more than 150 vendors selling everything from guns and ammunition to knives and jewelry. crossroads official attendance at t

officer continues to recover this morning after he was shot by a suspect in oakland. the shooting happened just before 6:00 last night on the east side of the city near the intersection of 49th avenue and east 12th street. police say the wounded officer continued to chase after the suspect after he was shot. stephanie truong has new details. >> an officer called for assistance. he had suffered a gunshot wound. >> reporter: that oakland officer was one of two responding to the sound of gunshots at 49th and east 12th. officer gianna watson said the officers found a man with a gun who began to fire at them, hitting one of them. witnesses say they heard from four to six gunshots in all. watson added that even though he was hurt, the wounded veteran continued to chase the suspect. >> he was able to take him into custody and recover his firearm. >> reporter: officers stayed at the scene of a original report of a two-car crash at 47th and 12th trying to determine whether the driver who ran from one of the cars was linked to the shooting at 49th minutes later. witness tells ums the gunman

an undercover police officer in oakland. police say the officer was doing an investigation on seminary avenue a few blocks away from the oakland coliseum. that's when three armed men confronted him and shot him in the arm. the suspects took off. officers locked down that neighborhood and launched a full scale intensive search both on the ground and in the air. police were able to catch one of these suspects but two others are still on the run today. the injured officer is being treated at a local hospital and he is expected to recover. we're waiting to hear more from police this morning. we'll bring you the latest information just as soon as we get it. >>> this attack comes hours before the oakland city council is set to vote on a controversial plan to deal with violence in the city. the police chief and the mayor want to spend $250,000 to hire former new york and l.a. police chief big bratton as a consultant to help reduce violent crime. bratton is a controversial pick because of his support for stop and frisk police tactics which some people say will lead to racial profiling
